Zman’s Root Beer Pulled Pork: Slow Cooked, Simple to Make

So, your buddies are coming over to the house for hours of pounding pigskin and there’s sure to be cigars and ice cold beer on the docket. And you KNOW that these CROMAGS are showing up with the appetite of 270 lb linebacker on an unprotected quarterback. Prep Time: 10 – 15 minutes • Cook Time: 7 Hours

The good old fashioned crock pot is one of the EASIEST ways known to make some of the tastiest man-food recipes ever – especially pulled pork. But adding a bottle of your favorite root beer gives this dish a mouth watering sweetness like you’ve never tasted before. Now I know you guys dig tangy pulled pork sammiches, but THIS one will have you and your ball-scratching buddies begging and howling for more. (Such a poetic Polack, ain’t I?)


Ingredients

1 (2 Pound ) Pork tenderloin 1 (12 fluid Ounce) can or bottle of your favorite root beer – a good brand with lots of flavor 1 Small Onion finely minced 3 Cloves of freshly peeled and minced garlic 1 (18 ounce) bottle of your favorite barbecue sauce – I like to use KC Masterpiece 8 Fresh Kaiser Rolls, sesame or poppy


Directions

1. Place the pork tenderloin in a slow cooker / crock pot 2. Pour the root beer over the meat 3. Put onions and garlic on and around meat 4. Cover & cook on low setting for approximately 6 – 6 1/2 hours until the meat shreds easily 5. Drain excess root beer (retain garlic & onion) 6. Pour in barbecue sauce and stir into the meat & let simmer for half an hour on low 7. Serve on lightly toasted Kaiser rolls

- Topping your sammiches with coleslaw or cheddar is optional
